Mr. Bandel, a consultant with The Katz Consulting Group,
Inc., brings with him experience in the healthcare
industry gained through his work at the New York City
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where he was an
Intern in the Health Research Training Program. Mr.
Bandel conducted a comprehensive research study on the
health and welfare of the uninsured in both a local and
national context.

As part of his work with the Health Research
Training Program, Mr. Bandel determined the
demographics of who is uninsured (i.e. how race,
gender, age, and income bracket can be factored
into insurance status), treatments they do not
receive, types of services they do access, how
their health outcomes differ from the insured, and
what free services are available to them.

Examined quality measures such as mortality and
morbidity, insurance statistics, amount per capita
and as a percentage of GDP being spent on
healthcare. The position required significant research,
report writing, and presentation skills.

Compiled the data into a fact sheet and produced a
survey of the recent literature on the uninsured
for the Community Access Program at the Institute
for Urban Family Health in New York City.

Background
Mr. Bandel holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the History
and Sociology of Science, with a concentration on
healthcare management and health policy, from the
University of Pennsylvania. He was on Dean's List while
at Penn and was named a Scholar Finalist in the National
Hispanic Recognition Program.
