Mr. Katz was the Principal-in-Charge of KPMG Peat
Marwick's Philadelphia office Healthcare Consulting
Practice and also Principal-in-Charge of the Firm's
Northeast Region strategic planning practice. He has
extensive experience in the healthcare industry including
over 17 years of direct management in hospitals (including
President of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and
Administrator of the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania). He was a primary participant in the
formation of the South Philadelphia Health Action Plan,
which was known as Greater Atlantic Health Service, a
network model HMO in Philadelphia. He served on the
Boards of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania,
National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related
Institutions, and Moss Rehabilitation Hospital. Mr.
Katz has over 20 years of Healthcare consulting experience.

In addition to his direct management and consulting
experience, Mr. Katz pursues academic and educational
interests. He was an Adjunct Professor at the Wharton
School, University of Pennsylvania, where he taught a
graduate level course, "Management of Ambulatory Care
Programs." He is also a Senior Fellow at the National
Healthcare Management Center at the Leonard Davis
Institute of Health Economics, University of Pennsylvania.
Background
Mr. Katz has been a consultant to the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation Community Hospital Group Practice Program, a
member of the Foundation's National Advisory Committee on
Ambulatory Care for Chronic Illness, and the AHA's
National Advisory Committee for the Division of Ambulatory
Care. In addition he served on the Editorial Board of the
Journal of Ambulatory Care Management. He served on the
Boards of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania and the
National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related
Institutions.
Mr. Katz holds a M.S. in public health from the University
of Pittsburgh and is a Fellow of the American College of
Healthcare Executives and American Public Health
Association.
